Happy Halloween! We are busy trying to offload the Costco bag of candy we bought on all the kids of Seattle. Things started out pretty hot (lots of youngsters) around our house but seem to be slowing down. Only half a bag left...
We did a rushed pumpkin carving job after work today. I convinced G to let me go to work with his drill and get a little artsy. My plan was to do a star-burst using different size drill bits. One of the first holes wasn't lined up quite right so I turned it into more of an abstract thing.
Although G and I didn't dress up for Halloween this year, Shishy did! He is channeling his ancestors as a "hunter" this year. He has spent most of the night hunting for extra food kernels and plenty of pats.
Happy Halloween and to all a good night.

Feeling Under the Weather
We've been feeling under the weather around our house this week.
Good thing the kitties have been extra-snuggly.

Cougin' It
We had quite the weekend rooting for the Cougs at the Seattle Game. In true WSU fashion, they Coug'd it. It was a horrible football game to watch, but we were more than entertained with our old friends, a crazy girl sitting in front of us and plenty of beverages!

Our $5 $13 (damn fees)
Coug-Zone tickets served us well. We were in the covered 300 level which was amazing in the rain. The 500 flights of
stairs up to the nose-bleed were... well… good for burning 3 of the thousands of
un-needed calories I ate/drank, watching drunk girls fall, feeling like I climbed a mountain
not 10 steps, etc.

Who needs a game when you have pom-poms! |
Before the game we caught up with lots of old friends, ate a
crazy amount of munchies and drank a high quantity, random assortment of alcohol. There was only one awkward run-in with a much-despised ex-boyfriend. Luckily, I married a great man who took the high-road and was beyond pleasent in making conversation with said ex-boyfriend.
We got lucky and ducked into a bathroom at Starbucks on our way from the bus
stop which was a life-saver! Who sets up tailgates without a bathroom in sight? My
germa-phobic-ness was on high alert with such low sanitation! ewww
Former roomies, Forever cougs |
I grabbed a veggie burrito at the el Camion truck
before we went into the stadium. It was amazing. Hot, fast, fresh and delicious!
And for only $6? Like I said, AMAZING. Two sober days later my mouth is still
watering.
The night ended with a long bus-ride home, a bad headache and a questionable tummy.
I loved reliving our college days having 7 friends and 2 cats staying in our little house. On Sunday morning we got up made breakfast burritos, rehashed the night before (and updated our fantasy football rosters). I'm tres thankful for all the great friends in our lives!

Have a Cozy Weekend
Our good friends Matt, Kate, and Taylor are coming into town for the weekend. We're all going to root for the Cougs Saturday night! Fight, Fight, Fight for Washington State... The weather looks cold and rainy- lots of tea, hoodies and tailgating are in store.
Tonight I'm thinking about...
A colorful kitchen
Saying lots of prayers for my coug Jerome Harrison
Zombies in Redmond?
I think I'm a Pal, What kind of love are you?
The Seattle Game!

Standing My Days Away
A few weeks back I got to reading a story on Re-Nest about standing at work. I found it pretty interesting, but it was actually the NYT article, Is Sitting a Lethal Activity, that hooked me.
Wow! That’s crazy. Being the worker bee that I am, I spend most of my days tucked behind my computer in my comfy chair. I know it’s not great for me, when I’m stressed or intently focused on something my posture is horrible.
Last week I started my very own stand-during the day challenge. My goal is to stand for 5 hours per day for the next month (I’m already in week 2). The first night when I went home my legs were shot. I felt like I had run 5 miles. Surprisingly I wasn’t sore the next day, so I stuck to it. Now in week 2 it seems like habit.
I have a desk that rises to a standing height so I stand from the minute I arrive in the morning until around lunch time. I do sit during meetings and when I’m eating lunch. My goal is still to make it 30 days, but I’m hoping it will continue long beyond that.
Have you seen this TED talk? It was my inspiration for a 30 day challenge!
"The men in the study who spent six hours or more per day of their leisure time sitting had an overall death rate that was about 20 percent higher than the men who sat for three hours or less. The death rate for women who sat for more than six hours a day was about 40 percent higher."

Mellow Thursday
It's been a calm night around our house. We did a chore draft to split up the cleaning that needed to get done before our friends get here this weekend. World series is on the TV and Norah Jones is on the stereo.
My Mother-in-law stopped by with a little surprise desert. If you haven't tried Ben & Jerry's Red Velvet Cake, I highly recommend it. A delicious little treat! Nothing makes your day like unexpected ice cream.
I'm busy (thinking about) planning G's birthday next weekend.
